Welcome! A few ideas for your stay
Thank you for choosing our villa for your stay!
To help you discover great addresses and spots not to be missed, here are some personal suggestions, deliberately limited to the essentials.
My favorite restaurants in Forcalquier and the surrounding area:
L’Esperluette, less than a 10-minute walk away, original and light cuisine, 28 Boulevard Latourette, Forcalquier, phone 04 92 72 53 57
Le Jam, a good Moroccan restaurant for tagines and couscous, in the center of Forcalquier, 2 rue Mercière, Forcalquier, phone 04 92 75 22 02
L’Auberge du bois, a beautiful quiet terrace, traditional French cuisine, less than 10 minutes by car, in Niozelles, laubergedubois.com
Cocotte in Pierrerue, 10 minutes by car, original cuisine, bistrotdepays.com/cocotte.
Not to be missed, the market in the center of Forcalquier on Monday mornings, with its local and international crowds, musical entertainment, and stalls overflowing with all kinds of local products. Often the carillon of the Citadel will accompany you with its music.
The old Forcalquier, a few minutes' walk from the house, has everything of a traditional Provencal village, with its old paved streets, old facades, and centuries-old gates.
You must walk up to the Citadel at the top of the hill, which offers a beautiful panoramic view.
And here are just a few of the many exceptional sites in the region:
The gardens and the medieval priory of Salagon in Mane, less than 10 minutes by car, where you can find typical plants of Provence and elsewhere, and often exhibitions by regional artists.
The Abbey of Ganagobie, less than 30 minutes by car, its 12th-century buildings, the views over the Durance valley.
The Château La Coste vineyard estate, about an hour's drive away, offers a beautiful domain, several bars and restaurants, and amidst the vineyards, works by dozens of famous 20th-century architects and sculptors.
But also, about an hour's drive away, the choice of places to visit is inexhaustible, such as Aix-en-Provence, the Gorges du Verdon, or, much closer, the typical villages of Lurs, Dauphin, Simiane la Rotonde, Banon, Sisteron, Roussillon, Gordes, and many other picturesque places.
Pierre, the property manager, will introduce you to the house and the entire property.
You will also find a binder marked "Welcome File" in the TV cabinet. Inside are the internet QR code and all user manuals for the various appliances and furniture in the house.
You will also find these manuals near each appliance and piece of furniture.
Pierre and I hope that you will be able to fully enjoy the house and the region.
If you wish, you can also book your next stay directly on this site.
Should you need anything, Pierre Gelas (06 89 08 55 17) as well as myself remain at your disposal.
We wish you an excellent stay.
See you soon
